Parents of children with TBI were recruited prospectively and retrospectively through four Oregon hospitals: Legacy Emanuel and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (OHSU) in Portland, Sacred Heart in Eugene, and St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.

Families of all children and youth between the ages of 0 and 19 who are admitted to the hospital at least overnight for treatment of TBI are eligible to participate in BTS.  Prospective subjects are recruited as they leave the hospital.  Retrospective subjects—those treated at OHSU or Legacy Emanuel within the last 10 years—are contacted through data bases at OHSU and Legacy.
