TBI Transition System:
Improving the Hospital-School Transition of Children with TBI

Outcome data will include rates of identification for special education, student academic, cognitive, and behavioral outcomes, and parent and teacher knowledge, self-efficacy, and satisfaction. Prior to data collection, we will examine the psychometric properties of our proposed mediating and outcome variables with this population, thereby validating the measures used to assess these variables.

To ensure that these tools reach their intended audiences—families, educators and service providers who support these children throughout their lifespan—we will work with several national organizations to disseminate the findings of this project and to integrate practices validated by this research into hospital and school policy and practice. The project as a whole presents a systematic and coordinated approach to development, validation, and dissemination of effective measures and transition intervention practices.
